FreeGreatPicture.com 50005 three children alice thumbThe purpose of my visit at the Birkbeck University was to recruit Polish-English bilingual children within the Polish immigrant communities in London and test them with a set of tasks, measuring their linguistic and cognitive abilities. I planned to test between 15 and 20 children at school entrance age (4;5-7;0) in Polish and to conduct three testing sessions with each child, either at home or at school.

I planned to collect the data about linguistic and cognitive development of bilingual children, which would enable comparison between the performance of Polish monolingual children (already tested in Poland) and Polish-English bilingual children.

Host: Prof. Jean Marc Dewaele, Birkbeck, University of London, UK
